June Meeting Recap

Hello Modern Quilters,

Another great guild meeting with lots of learning and sharing! There are a lot of pics to show this month. Enjoy!

Program “What is Alternate Grid & How Can I Use It?” by Kathy C.

Recap by Donna L.

Kathy C. showed wonderful examples of Alternate Grid and provided some easy steps to follow!  Then it was time to design!!  Groups decided a block style and color palette, then used 3 different sized blocks to create an Alternate Grid with the focus on Scale.  A great time for collaborating and exploring new ideas!  Thanks, Kathy C., for a powerful program that solved the puzzle of “What is Alternate Grid?”!!!

Announcements

BNMQG will have an informational booth at Peoria Gems of the Prairie Quilt Show, Aug. 27 & 28.  This is a wonderful opportunity to chat with quilters about modern quilts and share about our modern guild!  Don’t forget to sign up to help man the booth at the Gems Show in August. You can sign up at the meeting in July or email me.

Donna L, project manager of our QuiltCon Challenge Quilt, gave us a look at what the committee has created so far, and explained that the focus this year is scale.  They have made a lot of progress! The next sew in is July 6, 9-3, at Christ Lutheran Church.

We collected our first blocks for the Orlando Quilt Project. Our generous members brought 91 blocks to the June meeting! Wow! Keep sewing! We’ll be collecting again at the July meeting. You’ll receive an email soon with details about helping to complete these quilts.
